Lake Alacranes
One American angler claims to have caught a 24 pounder and a 22.5 pounder while fishing at Lake Alacranes. He was afraid to report these fish because he believed that he was in Cuba illegally. You don't want to know what he was using as bait.
I can remember one day when myself and Eugenio Sanchez fished at this lake, we caught about 125 bass topped by my bass of 14. 4 pounds. Not a bad day I would say.
This lake is truly a 100 bass per day lake when conditions are right!
Americans stay at the Los Caneyes Hotel in Santa Clara City, approximately one hour from the lake while fishing at Lake Alacranes. This hotel has a number of nice thatch roofed cabanas built around a swimming pool. There is a nice restaurant and nightly entertainment. Santa Clara is the capital city of Villa Clara Province and is located in Central Cuba.
