Treasure Lake - Cuba
Treasure Lake was famous because most Americans believed that the next world record bass would come from there. Magazines like Outdoor Life and others and predicted it would happen.
Guama, as the Cubans call it is a tourist complex built on 13 small islands with bridges connecting one to the other. There are 49 thatch roofed royal palm cabanas. Guama also serves as sort of a honeymooners resort. It is located in the middle of the Zapata National Swamp area about 10 miles north of the Bay of Pigs.
I made my first trip to Treasure Lake In June of 1977 and then signed a contract with the Cubans to bring bass fishermen there. It happened on July 4, 1977. Trips began on September 30, 1977. From that date until about March of 1978, we took over 500 American bass fishermen to Treasure Lake. It was indeed a remarkable experience.
